Learn to make Charity Quilts with your redundant Sewing Machine!

Got a sewing machine that you haven’t used at all or for a long time?  Want to learn to sew or re-ignite your sew-jo?  Come and join us between November and February to make lap quilts for charity.  No need to buy fabric as it will be supplied.

We will meet twice a month at Southfield Community Centre between 14:00 and 16:30 starting on 2nd November.  Our machines need to be PAT tested before we start sewing, so bring them along with your instruction book for the machine to the first meeting.  If you have lost the manual, you can normally download them from the net.

I would suggest getting your machine serviced by Mr Coates if it’s been awhile or never been serviced before.

Some fabric will be pre-cut and can be sewn straight away, others you can cut learning how to use rulers and a rotary cutter.

We will start simple and build up skills and artistic patterns as you progress.  You choose the fabrics and pattern in the first class.  We won’t be sewing anything but scraps to get you used to your machines after they have been PAT tested.

This will be a very informal group where you learn and create at your own pace.  Although we will be producing quilts for charity at the group, you are encouraged to have your own project on the go too so you can practice at home and make your own quilt in your own fabric.

The group size is limited to 10 so that we can get to know and help each other.

Group run by Liz Casey, a keen but not expert sewing bod.
