Latin and Classical Studies

Latin and Classical Studies 2023 / 2024

We are still  following the Cambridge Latin Course book 2 but  we will  move on from  Roman Britain to explore Roman Alexandria with our hero Quintus and his trusty freed slave Clemens.  Throughout our translations we will find out about the worship of the Egyptian goddess Isis,  the government, economy and ethnic diversity of Egypt in the first century AD and the importance of Alexandria as a centre of science and learning.  We will continue to complete Latin grammar exercises.  Other classical delights might  include a guest speaker to talk about Alexander the Great and we might even  dip our toe into Classical  Greek.  We will continue to explore authentic Latin prose and verse texts.

Beginners,  Improvers or just generally interested,  come along and give it a try.  Help keep Latin alive!!
